Two capsules off the same line do not measure the same. Every TMM9000 is measured against a reference and its deviation is written to a file carrying its serial number. Load that file and your software subtracts the microphone from the reading. What is left is the room.
Without it you are correcting your room and your microphone at once, and you cannot tell which one you just fixed.

The calibration file is a plain text list of frequencies and corrections, the format every measurement program has read for twenty years. Omnissiah takes it. So do REW, Smaart and ARTA. Nothing here is locked to our software, and nothing stops working the day you stop using it.
One Clock In The Room.
A USB measurement mic is its own sound card, running its own clock at its own sample rate. Over a long average it and your speakers drift apart, and the software has to chase the difference. The TMM9000 is a microphone. Plug it into the interface already feeding your monitors and the drift is not there to correct.

Do I need phantom power?
Yes, 48V, from your interface or a preamp. Almost every interface made this century has it, usually behind a button marked 48V. The microphone will read silent without it.
Is the calibration for this microphone or for the model?
This microphone. Cheap measurement mics ship one curve for the whole production run, which tells you what the model tends to do, not what yours does. Every TMM9000 is measured on its own and the file carries its serial number.
Does the calibration file only work in Omnissiah?
No. It is a plain text list of frequencies and corrections, the format every measurement program reads. Omnissiah, REW, Smaart and ARTA all take it. Nothing here is locked to our software.
I lost my calibration file. Can I get another?
Email hello@tantrumaudio.co.uk with the serial number printed on the body and we will send it again. We keep every file we measure.
Do I need this if I already have a measurement mic?
No. Omnissiah works with any measurement microphone, including the one in your drawer. Buy this if you do not have one, or if you want the calibration to describe your microphone rather than the average of a batch.
Does this come with NEXUS?
Yes. The TMM9000 is the standard package microphone, so a NEXUS arrives able to measure the room on the day it lands. Buy one here if you want a spare or a second position.
